Vegetarian General Tso's Tofu Recipes Ingredients:


  • one (12 ounce) box firm tofu, in 1" cubes (frozen and thawed, if desired)
  • one egg equivalent (e.g., EnerG Egg Replacer), prepared
  • three tablespoons + two tablespoons water, divided
  • 3/4 cup + one tablespoon cornstarch, divided
  • vegetable oil for frying + three tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • three inexperienced onions, chopped
  • one tablespoon minced ginger
  • one tablespoon minced garlic
  • 2/3 cup vegetable stock
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • two tablespoons soy sauce
  • one tablespoon white vinegar
  • one tablespoon sherry, optional
  • red pepper, to taste
  • steamed broccoli, to serve


Vegetarian General Tso's Tofu Recipes Directions:

1. Combine the egg replacer as specified on the box and add a further three tablespoons water.  Dip tofu in egg replacer mixture and coat fully.  Sprinkle 3/4 cup cornstarch over tofu and coat fully. be careful that the cornstarch does not clump up at the lowest of the bowl.

2. Heat oil in pan and fry tofu items till golden. Drain oil. Heat three tablespoons vegetable oil in pan on medium heat.  Add inexperienced onions, ginger, and garlic; cook for concerning two minutes. watch out to not burn garlic.

3. Add vegetable stock, sugar, soy sauce, vinegar, sherry, and red pepper.

4. combine two tablespoons water with one tablespoon cornstarch and pour into mixture stirring well.  Add fried tofu and coat evenly.

5. Serve immediately with steamed broccoli over your selection of rice.
